A slip sliding journey into the Mara this morning after the heavy rains of last night. These two lionesses were resting quietly until I unintentionally disturbed them.
Taking advantage of the situation I positioned myself in front, opened the vehicle door and leaned out to get a low perspective. The trouble with looking through the lens is that you're never quite sure how close they really are so it's a bit surprising when you look up and they are about 15-20 feet away - time to shut the door !!
There are 5 male lions here, all about 7 years old, which hang out together. This is not usual and I am sure that they will soon split so I want to photograph them all walking together.
Male lions sleep. They sleep a lot and I mean an awful lot - 90% of the time.
What do you think my chances are of getting that shot? Yep - about 0%
