Amboseli has a fair few shallow lakes where the waters of Kilimanjaro seep into the ground and create marshes. This sustains the life in Amboseli although there are vast areas of bare sandy soil where nothing grows.
This Goliath Heron was standing stock still waiting for a catfish to grab for its breakfast. Hoping to catch the shot I waited for 20 minutes or so. Eventually it started to become bored, as did I, and decided to preen instead.
The saturated colours in the morning light were so strong that I have had to tone them down a little.
Just give it a white Macintosh and it resembles a flasher !!!!
