This morning I watched a young female leopard stalk a herd of Impala. An amazing sight to see as she caught a baby and trotted off into the bush with it.
Unfortunately word got out and the whole area was inundated with vehicles. A very sad sight to see as the drivers pushed the Impala towards the leopard and then, as she caught her prey, zoomed like a Formula One racetrack towards her. Appalling behaviour from people who should know better. I was so disgusted that I didn't take a shot.
This Tawny Eagle was hunting the small bushes in great light. Often they will rob others birds of their prey and are often seen around rubbish dumps in human habitation.
The pre-mating display by the male often ends in a talon lock as the female turns upside down whilst they fly together.
Sibling rivalry is common. Although three eggs are laid the youngest chick invariably is killed by the others at an early age giving them more chance of survival.
