A coalition of 6 males is very unusual.
Here three are sheltering from the midday sun as they wait their turn with a female needing to mate. Mating will take place over a few days and the 'lady' will accept the advances of any male during that time.
Only at the end of the few days will she actually become fertile and usually at that time the strongest male will be servicing her.
As the sun is so strong after 9am I took the opportunity to overexpose the shot by as much as 3 stops thereby making all things lighter than the lions white and without texture giving a high key finish.
I often take high key shots as I like the simplicity and, as there are many hours of strong sunshine, it gives me opportunity to continue photographing throughout the heat of the day.
I would of course preferred to have all 6 males together.
